Safety Upgrades

Signage improvement works for existing buildings

Many buildings already have some signage in place — but it may be outdated, incorrectly positioned, illegible or incomplete. Our improvement works address each of these issues systematically, bringing the building into compliance without a full replacement where possible.

Common improvement scenarios

Each building presents different needs. These are the most frequent improvement works we carry out.

Replacement

Replacing outdated or illegible signs

Signs degrade over time — colours fade, materials yellow and text becomes difficult to read. We remove old signs and replace them with new photoluminescent units that meet current standards. Old fixings are repaired and surfaces made good before installation.

Adding missing evacuation plans

Buildings that lack per-floor evacuation plans are missing a critical element of their safety system. We design and produce photoluminescent plans specific to each floor's layout and install them at the designated location on every level.

Repositioning

Correcting sign placement

Signs installed at the wrong height, angle or location can be as ineffective as no sign at all. We assess each sign's position against regulatory requirements and best practice, then reposition those that do not meet the standard.

Fire extinguisher identification signage

Extinguishers are only useful if residents can find them quickly. We install identification signs above each extinguisher location and, where required, directional signs that guide occupants to the nearest unit from key points on each floor.

Assessment before any work begins

We do not quote improvement works without first conducting an on-site assessment. Every building is different — floor layouts, existing signage conditions, regulatory requirements and building administration needs all vary. The assessment allows us to scope the work accurately and identify exactly what is needed.

Following the assessment, we provide a written scope of works detailing each item to be addressed, the materials to be used and the proposed installation approach. This document forms the basis of the project.
